Motivated by the love of God, as a leader in the Christian faith-based human services, the Salvation Army is committed to serving the whole person - mind, body and spirit - with integrity and respect, using creative solutions to positively transform lives.

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.  The message is based on the Bible and the ministry is motivated by the love of God.  Their mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

The Salvation Army - Greene County Service Center offers services Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.  The Center provides a variety of free programs, including the free clothing warehouse, emergency food boxes, rent and utility assistance, disaster services and Produce to the People.  They also offer children's programs like Camp Allegheny each summer, Treasures for Children and the Kid's Birthday Club.

Not long ago, the Salvation Army helped a local family that was just broken down.  The father had recently lost his job and his wife was a stay-at-home mom.  They had tried for so long to make ends meet on their own, but they were at a point where they couldn't survive like that any longer.  It was then, the Salvation Army was given the opportunity to step in and provide the family Emergency Utility Assistance.  The money given helped them so they could stand on their own feet again.  Since then, Dad has found a job and Mom is working part-time.  With the assistance the Salvation Army provided, they didn't have to worry about what would happen if their electric was turned off and could focus on finding jobs.

Salvation Army - Greene County Service Center is always looking for volunteers to help in the free clothing warehouse, Monday through Friday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.  They also need Produce to the People volunteers to pass out food as well as Bell Ringers during their Kettle Campaign.  Volunteering is one way that you can make a difference within your community.

To learn more about the volunteer opportunities, please call Carla Hughes at 724-852-1479.
