The mission statement of the WWJD Christian Center is “to develop fully equipped disciples to reflect the heart of God, who is Jesus, in the heart of the community”. We make our best effort to do that with worship, Bible study, and fellowship to strengthen the believers in our congregation and then conduct community events that involve families mostly in the West Waynesburg area. If you have an interest in joining a community-minded church or would like to help with some of our outreach projects feel free to give us a call @ 724-852-4206. If you would like to donate to our cause in West Waynesburg donations can be sent to 313 Jennings Ave., Waynesburg, PA 15370
Charles Whipkey has been a part of our church congregation and outreach since 2005. He and his wife Sandy were the first to greet Pastor Jim and Cathie Carpenter at their new home and mission post in West Waynesburg. Sandy has since passed but Charles remains a constant presence in the ministry, taking care of the playground, as groundskeeper and custodian. He is dedicated to those jobs and carries them out without complaining or much supervision. We are truly blessed to have him. Every year for over 20 years WWJD has hosted a day camp in West Waynesburg. It started as a small group of children traveling in a van with a boom box to Central Playground where we told Bible stories and songs and then joined in the playground activities there until noon. It now registers up to 35 children and receives funding through United Way, local businesses, churches, and individuals. This allows us to pay staff and give the families in West Waynesburg and beyond a 6 week day camp experience from 9a-3p, Monday through Friday. The highlight as you can see in the video is their trips to the water park. To bring the community in West Waynesburg together we hold family events: holiday dinners and celebrations, bonfires, and outings. One event that we have hosted for many years is our Fall Celebration where we feature a pumpkin run, you can see by the video that they are all in! The children for several years have even grown their own pumpkins for the celebration in a pumpkin patch that they care for. |
