Inspire Greene - A Community Builder & Leadership Course

2024 Inspire Greene
The Inspire Greene - Class of 2024 finished their course with the Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 29 at the Denny House.  Our six participants, along with their family, friends, and co-workers, enjoyed a wonderful meal from Brady's Roadhouse, along with a certificate of completion and the book, Now, Discover Your Strengths, by Don Clifton.  Congratulations to Gabby Adams, Beckie Cannon, Carolyn Covalt, Lindsay Maddich, Amy Mazanetz, and Kim Shiemke!

Throughout the 10 weeks, the students learned about nonprofits, board leadership, how to read financial statements, developing resources, working with local businesses, how to give a presentation (and then give a presentation), and more.  They worked very hard and will make excellent leaders within our community.

A special congratulations to our Community Impact Team Winners - Carolyn Covalt and Amy Mazanetz and our Inspire Greene 2024 Winner - Gabby Adams.

And a huge thank you to our sponsors - Norkfolk Southern, EQT Foundation, Waynesburg University, Aladdin Food Services, Blueprints, the Rotary Club of Waynesburg, and Wilson Accounting Group.

Meet our 2024 presenters here!

IN TODAY'S WORLD, every county needs a group of community-oriented leaders that have the ability, motivation, and foresight to seize beneficial opportunities for our hometown and its residents.  With Greene County's rich network of for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations, there are many recreational, cultural, and civic leadership opportunities.  Inspire Greene - a Community Builder and Leadership Course - combines an understanding of board governance principals with active leadership experiences to bring like-minded individuals together for truly bold results.

THE GOAL OF Inspire Greene is to:
  • Educate - Participants will cultivate their understanding of Greene County and become familiar with key people, organizations, and challenges within our area.
  • Collaborate - Class members will learn to appreciate and acknowledge the various perspectives and contests of their fellow leaders and find common ground for strengthening Greene County.
  • Serve - Participants will develop an ethic of service that will take them beyond personal interests to tangibly engaging in volunteerism and community involvement.
  • Exemplify - Class members will model a community-focused leadership, causing others to aspire to the same standards, while also establishing a network of relationships that will enrich both their personal and professional lives.
Course Expectations:
Over 10 weeks, class members will learn about community and nonprofit leadership and how the two, together, can create an impact within Greene County.  After the course is completed, participants will be qualified to join a nonprofit board and, if interested, will be added to a potential member listing for local agencies to access.

Course Participation Policy:
Participants of Inspire Greene are expected to attend and fully participate in all sessions in their entirety.  Because there are only 10 classes, it is recommended that participants miss no more than two sessions.  However, we recognize there maybe times when participants are unable to attend due to illness or emergencies.  During those times, a zoom link will be provided to the participant, if appropriate.
Pricing:
The cost of the course is $300 per person.  If an individual and/or company is unable to pay the full registration fee, scholarships are available.  The price includes 10 presentations, course materials (printed and digital), dinner, snacks, and drinks.

Please contact MaChal Forbes at 724-852-1009 / [email protected] for more information regarding scholarships.
