Greene County United Way's 2nd Annual Day of Service will take place Friday, April 21. From 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, the Day of Service will provide a free community service event that pairs volunteers with local nonprofit agency projects to make an impact where it's needed most! There are multiple volunteer project sites around the county as well as donation drives and micro-volunteering opportunities for everyone to get involved.

The United Way's Day of Service offers community members a tangible way to make an impact in Greene County. There are several diverse volunteer opportunities including:
- Flenniken Library/Domestic Violence Services community garden prep (Carmichaels)
- Flenniken Library deep clean basement/first floor (Carmichaels)
- Warrior Trail Association embankment clean-up (Kirby)
- This project is labor intensive, using hand digging tools and sledge hammers on a steep embankment close to a road. For additional details, contact Frank Pecjak at [email protected].
- Waynesburg University Unity Trail landscaping (Waynesburg)
- Salvation Army flea market prep/food box prep (Waynesburg)
- Salvation Army landscaping (Waynesburg)

Greene County United Way's first Annual Day of Service was a wonderful success - a huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated!!!! Held on Saturday, September 25, GCUW had 34 volunteers assist on five difference community projects - painting at Carmichaels Senior Center, building shelving at Greene County CASA, passing out lunches at Touch-A-Truck, working in the community garden at the Corner Cupboard Food Bank, and rallying donations for GCUW's Drop off Drives! And, another huge THANK YOU to Community Bank for sponsoring this year's event!

- Repainting Carmichaels Senior Center accessible ramp for Blueprints (Carmichaels, PA)
- Hanging shelves and organizing storage area for foster children supplies at Greene County CASA (Waynesburg, PA)
- Working at Touch-A-Truck for First Baptist Church (Waynesburg, PA)
- Stocking at Corner Cupboard Food Bank (Waynesburg, PA)
We also will host a number of drives within the county: (drop off locations to be confirmed)
- A food drive for Corner Cupboard Food Bank
- A Women's Accessory, Hygiene, and Shoe Drive for Dress for Success
- A Diaper, Wipes, and Little People Clothes Drive for Catholic Charities
Volunteers who are unable to attend can participate in a micro-volunteering opportunity:
- Write letters of encouragement to local shut-ins
